How to make DIY candle

Step 1: Boil the wax

Place the weighed wax in a boiling cup to melt. Microwaves can be used to heat, but the water bath technique is preferable since it allows for quick temperature regulation. If you want the fairy dust candle to be more colorful, add color to give it a sparkling hue. Mix the fairy dust candle with food during this time to make it. Do not leave the wax at a high temperature (a proper level is 95°C), since the wax will become yellow rather than milky white. To melt quicker, cut the wax into many tiny pieces. Also, be careful not to let the wax get wet.

Step 2: Prepare the cups and wooden wicks

While waiting for the wax to melt, you may prepare the candle wick ahead of time to save time. Cut a length of cotton wick equal to the height of the cup + 3cm if you're using it. One end of the wick is fastened to the base and firmly secured to the bottom of the glass with glue, while the other end is supported on a clamp or chopstick so that the wick is vertical. If you're using a wooden wick, wet it first and then secure it to the cup before dipping it in wax to make sure it burns more consistently. Glue the wooden wick to the bottom of the glass and clip it in place.

Some of you may have seen videos on the internet in which individuals just hang the wicks over the lip of the glass without having to attach the wick to it. You can also do this. However, as the candle burns down to the bottom of the cup, the wick will drift upward, preventing you from burning all of your candles. It's also a waste of candle wax. As a result, fixing the wick to the bottom of the glass is your optimum experience.

Step 3: Cool down the wax

Remove the burner and fill it with enough water to cover a tea light. Place the melted wax in a saucepan over medium-low heat and stir gently until smooth, avoiding the formation of foam in the candle. For those who utilize wooden wicks, submerge the wooden wick in the wax and squeeze it to avoid the wick from opening up, resulting in unsightly stains. This also helps to ensure that the wood wick burns more steadily.

Step 4: Add fragrance

When it has completely melted, remove it from the heat and stir gently for five minutes while waiting for the wax to cool to 70 degrees Celsius (about 5 minutes). Then add your essential oils. You can calculate the amount of essential oil to use based on the recipe.

Step 5: Pour into the candle holder

Stir the liquid wax and essential oil combination for approximately 4-6 minutes (at 60 degrees Celsius) before pouring it into the scented candle cup. Pour softly and gradually, taking care not to disturb the wax on the cup's edges.

Step 6: Decor

Prepare some decorations on the wax's surface while you wait for it to harden, such as dried flower, stone, ribbon, or stickers.

Step 7: Cut the wick

After the candle has cooled, cut the wick to a shorter length. You should trim the wick before each usage to a length of 0.3-0.5 cm.
